AAUW Mission Statement:
AAUW’s Mission is to advance gender equity for women and girls through research, education, philanthropy and advocacy.
Founded in 1881, AAUW is the nation’s leading organization
advocating equity for women and girls. Our national membership
reflects 170,000 members and supporters. For more than 140 years, AAUW has led the fight for gender equity in higher education and beyond. With a strong record of advocacy and action, AAUW continues to break barriers and defend the rights of women in education and the workplace. We have worked together as a national grassroots organization to improve the lives of
millions of women and their families.
In principle and in practice, AAUW values and seeks a diverse
membership. There shall be no barriers to full participation in the
organization on the basis of gender, race, creed, age, sexual
orientation or disability.

AAUW California facilitates California branches in meeting the vision and mission of AAUW by providing programs, education, and resources.
