AAUW Torrance celebrated International Women’s Day on March 29, 2025 with a captivating series of Indian Classical musical performances. Experience an inspired adaptation of Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore’s timeless works—Chandalika, Chitrangada, and Pujarini—as we unite in our enduring commitment to rights, equality, and empowerment.

Chandalika: A story about a girl from the lowest untouchable caste searching to establish her rights. Rabindranath Tagore’s Chandalika conveys a message of equality.

Chitrangada: A story of women’s individuality. Rabindranath Tagore’s Chitrangada conveys a powerful message about women empowerment and individuality.

Pujarini: A story about a young women’s true devotion and sacrifice highlighting the power of her commitment to a higher cause. Tagore’s portrayal highlights the importance of introspection, empathy, and the search for truth within oneself, rather than blind adherence to dogma.
